Our Story
Tina Pereira
Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Tina Pereira is an award winning ballerina.Dancing with The National Ballet of Canada and the Dutch National Ballet, Tina has thrilled audiences with her stunning performances in iconic roles like Carmen, Katerina in The Taming of the Shrew, Lise in La Fille Mal Gardée, Perdita in The Winters Tale, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, and the Nutcracker's Sugar Plum Fairy. She has performed on theatre stages from her hometown in Toronto, to NYC, LA, London, Amsterdam, Germany, Paris, and more.
When she's not performing, Tina is giving her social media fans a behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes to be a ballerina businesswoman.
The Birth of Ballerina Couture
Ballerina Couture came to life during Tina's brief time off stage due to an injury. Trying to solve her own wardrobe shortcomings, she started sewing her own leotards. It wasn't long before Tina's gorgeous designs caught the eyes of her peers, and she was commissioned to create custom designs for the biggest names in ballet. Ballerina Couture was born.Each Ballerina Couture leotard is handmade to order in Toronto with high end form- fitting Italian lycra, and an impeccable attention to fit.
A modern take on classic prima ballerina style, Tina Pereira’s designs are all about versatility—perfectly polished yet stylish enough to appeal every kind of stylish dancers, skaters, and even swimmers!
Inspired by Tina’s fellow company members at the National Ballet of Canada and her dance friends from around the world. Each piece is named after a ballerina (and her lucky number).
